Michael Minenna, Trumpet,
Morris Knolls HS,
Awarded 2023 Levy Memorial Scholarship
Michael Minenna started playing the trumpet in the 4th grade. In the 8th grade, Michael was accepted into the All North Jersey Junior Region Orchestra where his love for symphonic music took hold. He is one of those rare students who actually loves to practice, truly seeing it as an opportunity to hone his skills and broaden his repertoire.
In High School, Michael excelled in the Morris Knolls Marching Band (2 years as Drum Major), Concert Band, and several ensemble groups. He also expanded into other instruments, including viola and drums. Michael’s musical credits beyond High School include: All Eastern Symphonic Band, All State Wind Ensemble, All State Orchestra, and All State Symphonic Band. Michael is also an Eagle Scout and a National Honor Society inductee.
Michael's Band Director recognizes Michael as a natural born leader who possesses an incredibly rare demand for excellence, not just from himself but also from his peers, adding that Michael is one of the most talented trumpet players he has ever taught.
