ORPHEUS CLUB MEN’S CHORUS
A Singing Force for Good, Since 1909

Orpheus Club Men's Chorus members Mitchell Shapiro and Sam Shaw are among dozens of singers, throughout the world, who contributed to a choral rendition of the Ukrainian National Anthem.

The video was organized by Valerie Samn. Lyrics by Pavlo Chubynsky (1862), music by Mykhailo Verbytsky (1863), and arranged by Tim Ribchester (2022). Here are the lyrics translated into English (also shown in the video):

Ukraine's glory has not yet died.
Nor her freedom.
Upon us, my young brothers, fate shall yet smile.
Our enemies will perish, like dew in the morning sun.
And we too shall rule, brothers, in our own land.
Souls and bodies we'll lay down, all for our freedom.
And we'll show that we, brothers, are of the Kozak nation.
Souls and bodies we'll lay down, all for our freedom.
And we'll show that we, brothers, are of the Kozak nation.

In honor of the of the brave men and women in Ukraine fighting for their freedom Orpheus presents, from our spring concert of 2017, Who Are the Brave (music by Joseph Martin with lyrics by J. Paul Williams).
Lyrics:
“Who are the brave? Those who go to war.
Who are the brave? Those who fight no more.
Those who gave their lives, protecting freedom’s shore.
Who are the brave? Those who serve in war.
Who are the brave? Those who live with pain.
Who are the brave? Those whose lives are plain.
Those with healthy bodies, those protecting the unsure.
Who are the brave? Those who serve the poor.
Who are the brave? Those whose speech is free?
Who are the brave? Those loving liberty.
All those with heart and mind, protecting all they find.
Who are the brave? Those who serve mankind.
These are the brave.” - J. Paul Williams
